Charleville Forest Castle, near Offaly's county town of Tullamore, was designed by Francis Johnston in 1779 for the Charleville family, and is now open to the public.

Although the Neo-classical style was popular in the late 18th century, the castle was built in a mock Gothic style, and is considered one of the finest examples in Ireland.

The rocky coastline of Achill Island, County Mayo, features the highest cliffs (244 m/800 ft) in north-western Europe.

The beautiful city of Cork in south-west Ireland is a busy market town for produce from the surrounding area.

It also has one of the finest natural harbours in Europe: one of the oldest yacht clubs in the world was founded here in 1720.
